It's summer...the best time to declutter

Here's a short story about someone going from holding on to clutter to letting it go.


Evelyn lived amidst a sea of stuff, each item linked to a memory, or a person, or a long ago dream. Her once cozy cottage has become a labyrinth of overflowing boxes, teetering stacks of magazines, and forgotten souvenirs. The clutter has begun to weigh heavily on her and getting in the way of her daily life and stifling her spirit.


Evelyn found herself staring at a precarious stack of old newspapers, their yellowing pages reminding her of fleeting headlines and days that had slipped away. A wave of realization washed over her. The true value resided not in the items themselves, but in the memories they represented.

The summer and early fall months are a great time to clear out clutter. And, if you’re up for it, have a garage/yard sell when you’re done. What’s leftover can go to a local charity or put out at the curb. Depending on your local garbage collector rules, some of it will be gone before the garbage men come to collect it.
