Exploring the World of a Psychic Medium: Bridging the Gap Between Worlds

In a world filled with mysteries, psychic mediums have long been fascinated by those seeking answers from beyond our physical world. But what exactly is a psychic medium, and why do so many people turn to us for guidance?

A psychic medium is a person that has the ability to communicate with the spirit of those who have passed away. Unlike psychics, who may predict the future or read energy, mediums specifically act as a bridge between the living and the spirit world. They give messages, offer comfort, and provide some insight from those who are no longer physically with us.

As a child I often saw and communicated with spirits. I didn’t know who they were, but I’m guessing two may have been my grandfathers since they died before I was born. Presently, I often see my grandmothers and my parents, but mostly my mother. This is comforting since we were always close, especially during my teen and adult years.

The Role of a Psychic Medium:

Many people consult psychic mediums during times of grief hoping to connect with loved ones who have passed on. Reasons do vary, but most often because a medium can provide closure, healing, and reassurance that the bond with a departed loved one remains unbroken. Some people go to a medium for guidance on life decisions or to gain a deeper understanding of their spiritual path. Sometimes they’ve had a dream about someone and want more insight about that person.

Note: It's best to wait six months or more after a loved one has passed before seeing a medium.

How do Mediums work?

Mediums often use a variety of techniques such as clairvoyance (seeing spirits), clairaudience (hearing spirits), or clairsentience (feeling spirits). My strengths are hearing and seeing spirits. I clearly hear their voice and sometimes see a slightly distorted figure in my mind.

Sessions can take place in person, over the phone, or on an online video chat. For me, I prefer and get a clearer connection when the session is in person or at least on the phone. It's easier for me to make the connection.

A reading can vary widely depending on a medium's style and an individual's openness. My experience has been if the spirit of the person was stubborn or funny in their physical body, they’re the same in spirit. This applies to all personality traits.

Skepticism and Belief:

Skepticism remains even while many attest to having profound experiences with a psychic medium. So, it’s important for the client to approach a session with an open but discerning mind. Ethical mediums emphasize honesty and don’t make guarantees about what they can deliver. Every reading is different in who, what and how messages come through. If you want to talk with your deceased mother, you may get your aunt instead. We have no control over who comes through, even when we ask.

The difference between being psychic and being a medium lies mainly in the type of abilities and connections involved. A psychic has the ability to perceive information beyond the normal senses. This may include predicting the future, reading a person's energy or emotions, telepathy, or gaining insights about situations or people. Psychics do not necessarily communicate with spirits; their focus is more on extrasensory perception related to the living world or future possibilities.

My ability as a medium is specifically communicating with the spirits of those who have passed away. They are a bridge between the physical world and the spirit world, giving messages for their living loved ones. While some mediums may also have psychic abilities, their primary role is spirit communication.

While I do get intuitive messages for myself, I’m not good at getting them for others. That being said, dead people come to me on an almost daily basis and I have to tell them to go away since I don’t know who they are or who they want to communicate with. I may get a name from them, but I don't know who Susan, Jim or whomever is. The stubborn ones don't like being told to go away and can be annoying, but eventually they do leave.

Some mediums may also have psychic abilities, but their primary role may still be spirit communication. All mediums are psychics, but not all psychics are mediums. My strength is as a medium. A psychic reading focuses on sensing information that’s beyond the ordinary, while mediums focus on connecting with spirits.

Conclusion:

A psychic medium can offer a unique path for connecting with passed loved ones and help you find peace amid uncertainty. Whether you're a believer or just simply curious, understanding the role and practice of mediums can enrich your perspective on the mysteries of life and death. While I don’t want to leave this physical world anytime soon, I have no fear for when my time does come to leave my physical body because I know it will all be okay.
